Material
Ductile cast iron is a development of gray cast iron, a material which has been used for pipeline construction for centuries because of its high resistance against chemical and mechanical influences. Through its very high ductility, the ductile cast iron is capable of withstanding the high impact energies of the pile driving process.

Cast Iron with Spheroidal Graphite
(GGG)
In the melted cast iron mass graphite is converted from a tapered lamellar (toothlike) shape (gray cast iron) into a spheroidal shape (ductile cast iron). Thus, the mechanical characteristics are significantly changed, strength is increased and the material becomes more ductile.
