DYNA Grip Stay Cable System for the Zevenaar bridge

The Zevenaar stay cable bridge, Netherlands

The Zevenaar bridge is part of the Betouweroute project, a new railway line for transporting freight. The new line begins at Rotterdam's Europoort and ends near Arnhem on the Dutch-German border. The Zevenaar bridge carries road traffic over the railway line.

The Hollandsche Beton Groep (HBG) erected the steel bridge deck and four pylons, DSI Netherlands installed and stressed all stay cables within 8 week starting in mid-October 2001. The work included the use of temporary supports.

Approximately 20 tons of 15.7 mm dia. FeP1850 galvanised, waxed and PE-sheathed strands, were incorporated into the 32 and 44 strand DYNA Grip Stays.

The ConTen method was used to simultaneously stress the individual stay cables on opposite sides of the pylon.
