DYWIDAG Rock Anchors resist uplift

Guelph Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion, Ontario, Canada

In the summer of 2000, the expansion works for the Guelph Waste-Water Treatment Plant started.

The capacity at the tertiary level was improved to 64 million liters per day.
The alternate proposal by DSI Eastern Canada to use epoxy-coated DYWIDAG Rock Anchors to prevent uplift was approved for the construction of the primary clarifiers, aeration tank and final clarifier.

The alternate solution used the key feature of the DYWIDAG THREADBAR ^® allowing adjusting the dowel length and further eliminating any rebar hooks providing easier access during construction.

The ability for elevation adjustment with nuts and plates minimized interference with the top rebar layer.
Anchors were selected for proof load testing at random during construction. Testing of the rock anchors was part of DSI's services.
